4 Fashion Trends for This Summer

May 24, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

When it comes to fashion, trends seem to come around again and again, but tweaked to make them modern. Let’s look at four fashion trends for the summer of 2011.

The ’70s Are Back

One of the trends you’ll see coming round the bend are flashbacks of the 1970s. It’s all about the sophisticated looks found 40 years ago. For this trend, you’ll see earthy colors such as browns, tans, greens, etc. and long flowy dresses. You’re also sure to see high-waisted pants with the iconic bell bottoms. For a night out on the town, you’re sure to see long gowns of shimmering material with deep necklines.

Ladylike Fashion

Along with the sophistication of the ’70s comes the prim and proper fashion of the 1960s. This does not include the miniskirts of the era, but just the full skirts and dresses that create that housewife look.

Jumpsuits

Also making a comeback this summer are jumpsuits, whether with pants that go all the way to your ankle or ones with shorts. This includes sophisticated jumpsuits that are tailored and made to be worn to the office. Jumpsuits will be seen by day in corporations, in the afternoon with casual versions being worn for casual activities, and at night where they will be dressed up and ready to hit the town.

Pleats

Pleats are being seen on the runways of fashion week this year. Many are in the form of dresses, including sheer materials. For summer, you’ll see lightweight materials being used for these pleated outfits.

These are just some of the fashion trends you’ll see this summer.

Hip Hop Fashion and History

April 27, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Hip hop first emerged on the American music scene out of the Bronx, New York on the cusp of the 1980′s. Since then it has grown from electro beats and funk, exploding into not only its own genre of rap music but a billion dollar fashion industry worldwide.

MTV played a huge part in the popularity of hip hop. Amazing videos with high production values and of course the right threads made hip hop burst into street culture where it still thrives today. Rappers started out like Run DMC in black leather jackets and heavy, statement jewelry. Then came the more outrageous hip hop stars such as Flavor Flav with his giant clock necklaces and the brightly colored shell suits. The ladies weren’t to be outdone with Salt n Pepa performing strong, funky hip hop dance tracks with wild hair and revealing spandex costumes worn with oversize bomber jackets.

Vanilla Ice bridged the gap in the nineties to white American teenagers, and so hip hop began to overlap to all cultures, colors and creed. Today great labels such as LRG Clothes entwine their musical roots with up to the minute urban streetwear. From a baseball cap to a cool pair of jeans, these guys will have you looking like you just stepped out of a recording booth with 50 Cent.

So, embrace the hip hop culture and appreciate its rich history and roots. Put on your shell suit and your bucket hat and crank out those old school tunes!

We live in a very fast paced world today. When must adapt and learn to keep going and going and going. Being that this is the case, we do not have a whole lot of time to get ready in the mornings. While it is important to be on time for our obligations, we do not want to look like a hot mess. One thing that takes a whole lot of time is doing our hair. We have to mess with it to get it to go right, so we do not go out of the house looking silly. So we can do our hair in a short amount of time and still look nice, there are 3 easy hair styles that we can utilize.

One easy hair style that always looks good is putting the hair up into a bun. While this hair style is very simple, it always looks good and neat. All that has to be done is to throw our hair up into the bun and then be on our way. It really is that easy.

The next easy hair style that we can implement is blow drying our hair straight. All we have to do when doing this is to run a brush through our hair while running the hair dryer, until the hair is completely dry. Once the hair is dry, it will be neat and straight. This will keep out the frizz.

Finally, we can throw our hair up into a clip. This is easy in that we can find a nice clip that matches whatever we are wearing, put our hair in it, and then be on our way.

Tips on Hair Care

February 10, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Your hair speaks volumes about your style. Having a fashionable hairstyle tells people that you care about your appearance. It does not matter if your outfit is fabulous or not. If your hair looks terrible or outdated, your entire appearance will suffer. These tips will help you make sure your hair always looks great, even on those days when you do not have much time.

• Take care of your hair. Wash your hair on a regular basis. Oily hair is a common problem. Make sure you use a shampoo that fits the needs of your hair. For example, if your hair is dry, use a moisturizing shampoo. Try hot oil treatments on occasion and special conditioners to keep your hair strong and healthy. Do not forget to get regular trims to keep dead-ends away.

• Change your style. If you have worn your hair the same way for years, it is time for a change. Find a style you like in a magazine and ask your stylist to cut your hair in that manner. Even better, ask your stylist which style is best for your bone structure and hair type.

• Add color. Gray hair makes a person look older. If you are battling the grays, have your hair colored on a regular basis. You can even do it at home. If you are uncomfortable dying your hair, have a professional do it for you.

• Give your hair a rest. Make sure you take at least one day each week to avoid stressing your hair. Avoid hair products and hair dryers on this day. Let your hair dry naturally and rest for the day.

Following these few tips will keep your hair looking and feeling great. Your hair is a part of you and it is one of the first things people see. Take care of it just as you do the rest of your body. You and your hair will be happy.
