Denim Is Getting a 70′s Makeover

Denim is getting a new look from successful retailer, The Gap. The look for this year includes denim jeans that are a High Rise Trouser look. Another new look is the Sexy Boot jean. This denim fits similar to leggings, and it cuts lower than traditional boot cut denim.

A New Twist on the Boot Jean

The Sexy Boot jean has a very slim leg opening, and the waist is a bit squared in comparison to other styles. These new styles will be available in Gap stores at the beginning of the year. The new looks mirror denim in the 1970’s. During this time period, waistbands were higher and leg openings were wider.

New Updates for the Decade Ahead

Executives at the Gap are setting the trends for this new decade, so the new denim is an update to current looks. The denim can be dressed up or down. If you want to dress the jeans up, you can wear a fitted blouse with buttons. A nice t-shirt can be paired with the jeans to dress down the look.

Customers can pick up these great looking denim jeans for way under a hundred dollars. The jeans come in a variety of colors. In fact, the denim comes in white, and this style will be a big hit for the summer.

The 1970′s Influence on Fashion

Fashion goes in cycles. Styles from days gone by simply evolve into new styles and trends. The 1970’s was a fun time for fashion. The atmosphere was young, fun, and free. That generation were daring, and they were not afraid to express their courage through their clothing.

Bringing the high waist and wide legs look back will be a fun addition to the 2011 fashion scene. New generations can incorporate these funky fashions from the 1970”s into a more modern look. You will look very chic and sexy sporting a pair of these new denim jeans from the Gap. In fact, you should probably get a few pair because this look is likely to catch on in a big way.

Fur Eases Back into the Fashion Scene

Fur has always made a powerful fashion statement. The luxurious look of fur has garnered much controversy in the past couple of decades, but it has made a fierce come back in the Fashion world this fall.

Real or Faux Fur

Faux fur or real fur is the question. Regardless, fashion designers are incorporating this opulent looking fashion item into their fashion lines.

Many of the fashion heavy weights are bringing the fur back to their designs. Oscar de la renta, Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs, and Michael Kors are just a few of the famous fashion designers that are including fur in their new fall lines.

Fur Can Be Used in Many Fashion Pieces

There are different variations of fur designs. You can find fur vests, jackets, shoes, boots, handbags, and other fashion items. You can introduce the element of drama into your wardrobe.

Fur flatters the face and the body in ways that no other fabric can replicate. The huge controversy surrounding fur led to a decrease in using fur; however, young fashionistas are ready to bring fur back into the fashion scene. They are willing to embrace this classic accessory to fabrics.

Opt for Quality Faux Fur

Faux fur can be a great substition for real fur, but you must pay close attention to the quality of the faux fur. Fur that has the quality of a rug is not going to be flattering on you, so you have to choose your pieces carefully.

Full faux pieces look best. They look more luxurious and rich looking. Definitely try to stay away from pieces that are too thin. You should not be able to see the fabric beneath the fur. This is cheap looking and unattractive.

High quality faux fur comes in many different styles. For instance, you can find great chinchilla, raccoon, and coyote faux fur. Long pieces tend to look particularly great on women. They truly accent any outfit.

Fashion Week’s Catwalk Shows

Fashion is intriguing. From what fuels specific designs to the runway models that sport the beautiful garments, fashion is always in the limelight. Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter fashion collections debut in over-the-top catwalk shows during fashion week, an event held twice yearly. Fashion week sees collections from the world’s top designers and sets the tone for the coming season’s clothing lines.
Designers are continually working to come up with ideas that are unique to the culture and time period. In the U.S., New York is known as the country’s fashion capital. Designers work around the clock on premiere pieces to be introduced in New York’s February and September shows.
The Spring/Summer styles are shown at the September show while Fall/Winter pieces come out in February. This “eason-ahead” practice has been used for years as it allows the fashion industry to prep for the latest trends. Fashion as seen in the catwalk shows is often more dynamic than the pieces that will be worn by the average woman on a daily basis. Collections for street wear are modeled after the debut fashions, taking what is doable and dropping the elements (such as a completely sheer top) that may be unrealistic for the culture in which we live.
Clothes that do not meet wearability standards are often pieces that can be classified as haute couture. Haute couture is clothing made specifically to an individual’s personal standards and measurements. Catwalk shows featuring haute couture are unique, flashy and often exclusive to designers, buyers and media. Ready to wear shows that occur during fashion week also used to be exclusive, but now offer the opportunity for public attendance.
Whether haute couture or off the rack, the fashion industry stays busy catering to the people. Changes on designs and even textiles continue to improve with time. Local catwalk shows can help you clue in to upcoming design techniques.

Staying in Style During Office Hours

What qualifies as a stylish outfit for work? Pairing a top, bottom, shoes, purse, jewelry and hairstyle comes easily to some, but not so easily to others. Have you ever noticed how some women look as if they must have a personal stylist at home? Here are some tricks and tips that can help you achieve a well put together look that will leave you self-assured:
*When it comes to business attire, stick with a classic palette. Black is always a good choice, as is beige, navy, chocolate and grey. The majority of your look should be one of these colors.
*When layering pieces, make the bottom most layer the garment that has attention-drawing elements. This could be a print or a bright color. Use this attention drawing piece in small quantities. You don’t want to use a loud, large print that practically screams.
*Use jewelry with gemstones that match the focal piece. This pulls your look together. *Shoes in the same shade as your attire will visually lengthen your body, making you appear confident and classy.
*Your handbag can match your shoes or, if you’re feeling bold, it can match the focal point of your outfit.
*Wearing hair back from the face is best during work hours. Hair that is worn down and forward tends to fall into eyes, causing you to continuously push it back behind an ear. Playing with your hair never looks professional. You can avoid this by using a barrette or bobby pins if you plan to wear hair down. Otherwise, an updo such as a bun, chignon or twist will hold your hair in a lasting style.
*Keep makeup natural looking. You don’t want to use bright makeup colors and heavy applications during business hours. Save that for a get together with the girls after work.

Stand-Out Hair Accessories

Accessories for hair come in many different forms. Learn which pieces work best for the style you are trying to achieve.
*Headbands are terrific when you want to wear hair down, but keep it from getting into face. This is also a quick fix for a not so great hair day. Headbands made of hard plastic typically have plastic teeth for a style that stays in place. Some of the newer styles also come with special rubber pieces attached that provide ultimate protection from slipping. Thick headbands look cute with full, wavy or curly hair. Thinner hair might be overwhelmed by a wide band. Look for styles in satin, metallics and fabric with flowered adornments.
*Double combs have moved to the forefront of hair fashions. These versatile combs are connected by elastic bands that allow the wearer to keep hair pulled back. The elastics could be beaded or plain. Tease the crown and pull half your hair back, use the combs to hold an updo in place or pull hair through the middle and use as a pony holder.
*Bobby pins are an old standby, but they too are seeing updates. The newest bobby pins come in colors to match your hair shade. They also offer slip-free grips. This helps you to keep your style the way that you want it. You can also find pins with small flowers and gems attached.
*Some hair accessory companies are now making their products using green technology. You can be earth friendly and have pretty hair with pieces made from bamboo, recycled plastic and even recycled paper. Look for clips, pony holders, headbands, barrettes and more.
*Jeweled hair clips help you to dress up your do quickly and easily. Available in various colors, these work great with any outfit. For formal events, try clips decked out in clear gems for a shimmery look.

Accessories to Suit Your Style

Finding the right fashion accessories for your look should be quite easy with the variety of choices that are now available. The choices you make will likely be based on the attire that you typically wear. If most of your apparel is:
-Comfortable and Casual
If you are a jeans and tee kind of girl, chances are you probably do not spend a whole lot of time accessorizing. If this is the case, you probably want something simple that you can throw together and go. Try using a cute scarf as a belt. This look is still really in. Slip it through the loops of your jeans and tie in a simple knot.
If you are looking to dress up your denim, slip on a pair of heels and a chunky necklace.
-Suits and Skirts
You spend your days at the office and you want something you can throw on after hours to spiff up your suit. First of all, let your hair down, then use a great headband with attached gems to take your outfit from office wear to outgoing. Another option is to add sparkly jewelry and a pair of great stilettos. You’ll look like you’ve dressed up to go out, not go to work.
-Cute and Chic
Sundresses, minis, capris, tanks these are the type of clothes you have in your wardrobe. If you wear your clothes bright and colorful, add accessories that won’t take away from your look. Try jewelry, hair barrettes and handbags made from organic cotton and unique gems, such as jade or moonstone.
If your apparel tends to lean toward nature inspired colors, try large, bold accessories that will stand out. Pendant necklaces on cording, a handbag covered in seashells, wedge shoes with turquoise accents or a cuff bracelet made from abalone will become the focal point of your attire.
