Denim Is Getting a 70′s Makeover

January 22, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Denim is getting a new look from successful retailer, The Gap. The look for this year includes denim jeans that are a High Rise Trouser look. Another new look is the Sexy Boot jean. This denim fits similar to leggings, and it cuts lower than traditional boot cut denim.

A New Twist on the Boot Jean

The Sexy Boot jean has a very slim leg opening, and the waist is a bit squared in comparison to other styles. These new styles will be available in Gap stores at the beginning of the year. The new looks mirror denim in the 1970’s. During this time period, waistbands were higher and leg openings were wider.

New Updates for the Decade Ahead

Executives at the Gap are setting the trends for this new decade, so the new denim is an update to current looks. The denim can be dressed up or down. If you want to dress the jeans up, you can wear a fitted blouse with buttons. A nice t-shirt can be paired with the jeans to dress down the look.

Customers can pick up these great looking denim jeans for way under a hundred dollars. The jeans come in a variety of colors. In fact, the denim comes in white, and this style will be a big hit for the summer.

The 1970′s Influence on Fashion

Fashion goes in cycles. Styles from days gone by simply evolve into new styles and trends. The 1970’s was a fun time for fashion. The atmosphere was young, fun, and free. That generation were daring, and they were not afraid to express their courage through their clothing.

Bringing the high waist and wide legs look back will be a fun addition to the 2011 fashion scene. New generations can incorporate these funky fashions from the 1970”s into a more modern look. You will look very chic and sexy sporting a pair of these new denim jeans from the Gap. In fact, you should probably get a few pair because this look is likely to catch on in a big way.

Colors are forever fading in and out of style. Past years have seen every shade, every tone, every combination of color. What does this year hold? 2011 collections are bringing forth all colors of the rainbow.
Candy Tones
-Bubblegum pink is showing up in dresses, skirts, tops and other flirty garments.
-Lollipop red is also making an appearance.
-Lemon meringue yellow is brightening mini-dresses, flowing skirts and halter tops.
Beachy Hues
-Ivory tones are a popular color this coming season, taking precedence over 2010′s array of white.
-Sandy peach and sunset orange are manifesting in flower prints, sheer sheaths and ruffled details.
- Aqua is coming together with orange for a look reminiscent of 1970′s turquoise rings.
The Basics
-Khaki is back in full form. Paired with jungle print, this is an all-time favorite.
-Black is appearing in spring and summer wear more than we have seen in previous years.
Mix and Match
-Various colors are paired together for new looks. Purple, yellow and orange, all in bright shades that you might find in a child’s drink cup, are showing up together in patterned skirts with stripes and tanks with polka dots.
-Animal prints, particularly cheetah or leopard are being donned on tops, shoes and bags.
-Coral is showing up with a slew of other shades, creating stunning contrast.
-Denim is showing up in pain ole blues as well as stonewashed and bleached out varieties.
This season is all about color and pattern that pop. Do not be afraid to mix colors that you previously thought were incompatible. Taking risks in clothing can create looks that you would have never otherwise achieved. Try olive with eggplant, navy with a buttery yellow or cotton candy pink with elephant grey. Move to the next step and really get your daring on. Mix a cheetah print with turquoise, try jungle hued stripes with ivory or lime with candy apple red. Getting dressed is being taken to an entirely new level this year!
