Beat Obesity with Healthy Habits

March 14, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Losing weight can be a very long and difficult process, especially for individuals who have gotten comfortable in their unhealthy eating and activity habits. The number of obese individuals in the United States continues to rise, and even children are affected by this epidemic, often due to poor habits of parents being passed along to their children. Starting a new exercise or diet program can be dangerous for severely obese individuals, since it can cause stress on the heart and joints and often result in injuries. Visiting a doctor is the first step in starting a long-term program that will help people to shed excess pounds and maintain a healthy weight through lifestyle changes.

One option that a physician may suggest is starting on a prescription of Xenical. This is an FDA-approved medication that prevents about 33% of consumed fat from being digested by the body. It is usually given to those who have a body mass index of 30 or more, and is part of a low calorie diet and exercise regime. It can assist severely obese people in the first steps of making these critical changes, and as they begin to see results on the scale, they often will continue to work hard at losing weight, with or without the prescription. It is a great way to jumpstart a fitness program.

Many websites sell fake Xenical pills online, but this can be dangerous. Customers may not know what they are taking, and combining certain medications can cause heart failure or other serious medical problems. The prescription should only be used under close supervision by a licensed physician. When combined with choosing a range of healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables, getting plenty of rest at night, staying hydrated, and participating in regular physical activity, this medication can be a great way to drop extra weight and learn healthy habits that will be important for every person’s lifetime.

Hand and Nail Care

December 13, 2010 by admin Leave a Comment

Your hands are one of the few areas of your body that are consistently exposed. You need to keep them looking nice! If you have dry skin, peeling nails or simply do not know what steps you should be taking to better care for your hands, this guide is a must-read:
*Moisturize after washing your hands, each and every time.
*When choosing a moisturizer, a heavy cream is great for pre-bedtime application, while a lighter moisturizer works well for all day use.
*Make sure that the cuticles receive a good lotioning as well.
*Hands begin to show age quickly. Make sure to apply SPF on a daily basis.
*If hands are particularly dry or rouch, look for lotions with lactic acid or glycerin. Apply liberally at night and cover hands with cotton gloves or even socks. Leave on all night.
*Keep nails clean and trimmed.
*File ragged edges to avoid tears in the nail.
*A square cut looks nice on all hand shapes. Simply cut straight across the nail, making sure to leave a potion of the nail’s white area showing.
*If your nails are peeling, it could be a sign of a vitamin deficiency. If you are worried, talk to your physician about improving your diet.
*If you have time to keep up with nail care twice a week or more, paint your nails using a bright, trendy color. If you are short on time, use a neutral shade. Chips are less likely to show.
*If your nails seem weak, a nail strengthening polish can help harden the surface. Look for a polish with added gelatin.
*The white spots that appear under a nail’s surface is nothing to worry about. It simply means there was an injury to the nail bed when the nail was growing. You may have bumped the nail or pinched your finger at some point in time.
