Update your Wardrobe with Summer’s Hottest Trend: Blouses

March 8, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

With warmer weather comes the exciting opportunity to revamp your wardrobe. Ditch the bulky, gray sweaters you have lying around from winter and, instead, go with nice tops featuring bright colors and light, airy fabrics to complement the season. This summer, be sure to check out the several new trends that have emerged, or the old favorites that are coming back for the season, like nice tops, with an updated look. Blouses in particular are a hot trend that have been reinvented time and time again, and are a perfect look for the summer.

Sheer

Sheer blouses are ideal for summer; the fabric is highly breathable and wearable during the hot months. These blouses can be paired with a tank top and blazer for work, or can simply be worn with undergarments for a flirtier look while going out. A sheer blouse that has a beautiful flowy look and three-quarter-length sleeves is perfect for a picnic on a beach or a day at the office.

Printed

Printed blouses are a fantastic addition to any wardrobe. Highly versatile, printed blouses can feature subtle patterns or vibrant bright colors, and can be worn with anything from classy khaki pants to fun denim shorts.  From whimsical butterfly patterns and delicate floral designs to sassy animal prints, there’s a printed spring blouse to satisfy any personality type.

Piping

Piping is less noticeable than prints, but the piping element adds a classy, upscale look to summer blouses. Not only does the piping element add shape to the blouse to help the garment flatter many different body types, it can also add an unexpected feature to a simplistic blouse to set it apart from the rest.

For all these trends plus a number of other stunning summer looks, check out Republic’s Tops section, which boasts a variety of nice tops for any shape or style.

Velvet is Chic For The Whole Winter Season

January 18, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Velvet has traditionally been reserved for the holidays. Most of us can remember putting on our beautiful red velvet or green velvet outfits for the Christmas season. Now, fashion designers like Ralph Lauren and Zac Posen have made it fashionable to wear velvet at any time of the year.

Velvet On Fashion Runways

Runway models are walking down the runway with fashions that are crafted from this plush, luxurious fabric. There is something about velvet that is rich looking, yet it is still understated. It is simply beautiful to wear.

Velvet has a built in dressy feel, but it is still totally acceptable for winter apparel. It looks warm and luxurious. A person can hardly go wrong with a gorgeous velvet outfit. There are so many options available in velvet. A person can choose different colors, different styles, and different combinations. The sky is truly the limit when it comes to donning this beautiful fabric.

Velvet Is Not Just Old School

Traditionally, velvet has been associated with an outdated look, but now, fashion designers are using the fabric in more figure flattering ways. For instance, a gorgeous cocktail dress can be done in velvet. It can be very form fitting and beautiful. This challenges the whole velvet for grandmas stereotype.

Furthermore, velvet does not have to be heavy. There are different textures available in velvet, and the lighter versions of the fabric are very sexy. The texture is tactile, and it stimulates more than one of the human senses.

For the upcoming year, every woman should invest in a great velvet jacket. In addition, a pair of velvet pants are nice, but you have to pay attention to the thighs rubbing together. This friction can mess up the fabric. Women should not be afraid to venture away from basic black velvet. There are fabulous colors to wear. The most important thing is to have fun with this fabric. It can be paired with other types of fabrics and textures.
